Carolina Princess 2010 - Elizabeth James

Elizabeth is the 11 year old daughter of Scott and Shannon James of Knightdale. She is a 5th grade AG student at Partnership Elementary and hopes to attend Exploris Middle School where she will remain active on their indoor soccer team.

Elizabeth is a member of the East Wake Cyclones, a U11 Girls challenge soccer team where she has been playing since the age of 4 and is a threat on any field as she has mastered the ability to shoot as equally hard with both feet.  She has helped bring the Cyclones to the finals and winner’s circle in many tournaments. She also plays indoor soccer for the Cyclones as well as Exploris Middle School.

In addition to soccer, Elizabeth continues to compete on one of Partnership’s Odyssey of the Mind Teams. She also has 6 years of dance training with ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and acro.

When Elizabeth is not on the soccer field, she is very active at Bethlehem Baptist Church where she assists with Children’s Church, sings in the choir, and is a score keeper for Upward Basketball. She is also participating in the Junior League Cotillion Ball at North Ridge Country Club.

Elizabeth has known Brianna Tracy for many years and is very humbled by the opportunity to accompany Brianna as her Carolina Princess 2010 and to represent Garner.
 

Carolina Princess 2010 - Whitney Hoffman

Whitney is the 8 year old daughter of Bobby and Kim Hoffman of Asheboro. She is a 3rd grader at Guy B. Teachey Elementary School where she is on the A Honor Roll. Whitney also participates in the Junior Great Books program and the Student Enrichment program.

Whitney enjoys taking dancing lessons. She has been taking Tap and Ballet classes since she was 4 years old at Studio J Dance Center under the direction of Laura Jensen Thornburg. She added Clogging to her dance list two years ago and has started competing in this area this year. She has also participated in the Randolph Youth Theater Company’s summer camp where she studied acting and musical theater.

Whitney also enjoys playing sports. She has played recreational soccer with the Central Carolina Soccer Club since she was three. Her team has qualified to participate in tournaments in the Central Carolina area. She also competed in the North Carolina State Games in 2008 where her team won a bronze medal in their age category. Whitney also plays recreational t-ball and c-ball through the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA. Recently, she has taken up a third sport, she began playing golf last summer.

When she is not playing sports or dancing, she loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys having friends over for play dates and meeting them at Badin Lake or at the pool to swim. She also likes reading, writing, and traveling. She is an active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church where she participates in the Kids of the Kingdom children’s choir and the Girls in Action program.

Whitney would like to thank Victoria Kucinski, Miss Garner’s Outstanding Teen, for choosing her as her Carolina Princess. She looks forward to making appearances and representing Garner throughout the coming year. She is also honored to participate in the Miss North Carolina pageant in June.
